August 27

Thankfully Will was in a good mood tonight so our trip out to dinner was a relatively relaxing experience. We ate at Red Robin, one of our typical haunts. It's noisy and kid-friendly, what more could we ask for?

August 26

Grumpy boy + exasperated parents = not a happy combination. Will was unbelieveably grumpy today (he was ticked that I was even trying to take his picture) and it took Marc and I a lot of patience to get through the few short hours we had with him this evening. At least I fixed a meal that Will deems "acceptable" so that we had one less battle to wage. He has grown to LOVE drumsticks and they are one of the few things I can count on him eating. He thinks it is pretty cool to hold a bone in his hands!

August 25

Today I finished painting the back bedroom...finally! We still need to put together Will's bed and dresser, as well as figure out what we'll do in terms of storing and organizing toys. Nonetheless, I took nearly all of the toys out of our family room and moved them into their new home. Marc and I have reclaimed our space...woo hoo!

August 24

While at Target last week, Will picked out "Spiderman" vitamins. He thinks these little guys are the cat's meow and is so excited to take his vitamins in the morning!

August 23

Today we headed home from a great weekend with Grandma and Grandpa. I made the mistake of sharing an ice cream cone with Will before we left and, needless to say, he did not nap in the car. When we arrived in town, we headed straight for Sand in the City, since its always better to keep Will busy when he's tired. (Less time for him to realize he is cranky.) Will's favorite part of the event was blowing bubbles on the rocks by the bay.

August 22

We spent today on the beach! The kite festival was going on in Long Beach and it was fun to see all of the kites. Later, we went to the beach by the house where Will helped Grandpa build his version of Stonehenge.

August 21

We headed out to Long Beach today for a weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Richards. We celebrated Grandma's birthday with a delicious cake from the Cottage Bakery. Will helped her blow out the candles.

August 20

Tonight Will was all about his Papa! Will took each stuffed animal out of the basket and he and Marc had to run circles around the house in order to put the "bad guys" in time out. He had quite a mountain of stuffed animals on the couch before the night was over!

August 19

Will and I drove to the Woodland Park Zoo today. Aunt Cheryl met us and we had a great tiem looking at animals. Will loved pretending to be a monkey and climbing all over the exhibit!

August 18

Today Will donned his fireboots (really, they are dinosaurs) and fireman hat to play in the hose. He had a fantastic time putting out fires all over the yard!

August 17

Another warm day, another Otter Pop. Will loves these little treats - the pink ones are his favorite!

August 16

Marc spent time trimming some of our trees today and quickly had a helper! Will used his little golf club to whack at the branches and was so proud to help!

August 15

Will and I spent time visiting Jacqueline and her kids today. Will had so much fun playing with Victoria and Jacob!

August 14

Will and I went to Seattle for the weekend. We stopped at the grocery store before heading to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Will spotted a big wall of kids books and wanted to get something. After looking at several options, he said, "I don't want a boy one," and chose the Disney Princess Paper Dolls. Uncle Bob *loved* playing paper dolls with Will!

August 13

The theater in Lacey has free kids movies during the week. I decided to take Will to see "Alvin and the Chipmunks" this morning. It would have been his first movie. He was very excited to eat popcorn and watch the chipmunks dance and sing, but all of that faded the minute we walked into the theater. There was nothing I could do to stop his insisting, 'I just wan go home!" The darkness and loud noises were just far too much for him to handle. We sat in the hallway and lobby to enjoy our popcorn - he thought that was just fine! (I managed to salvage some fun by taking him to Charlie's Safari.)

August 12

Today I noticed this deer outside our window. We've seen several deer in the last few weeks and I finally managed to catch a shot, albeit a poor one!

August 11

This little bee is sleeping on my lavendar! I noticed this for the first time a few weeks ago and couldn't believe my eyes. When the weather is a bit overcast or rainy, I can usually spot a handful of bees sleeping. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen!

August 10

Today is raining, really raining. Its the first time we've had any measurable rain since May and my flowers are loving it!

August 9

Today Marc finished repairing the ceiling in our back bedroom. Unfortunately, it involved a great deal of sanding, which means that we've got a great deal of cleaning to do.

August 8

Marc and I drug the old futon frame outside to our free pile, in hopes that someone would take it off of our hands. The frame was gone within two hours, we still have the 2.5 year old.

August 7

Will and I met Sophie and Sarah for a little playtime at the park. The kids had fun swinging and I managed to catch sweet Will giving Sophie a little kiss.

August 6

Tonight Marc and I needed some fun, so we picked Will up early and headed to Chuck E Cheese. He was not thrilled to see us at daycare (he puts up quite a fight to come home) but when we told him were we were headed, he bolted straight for the door. As always, he ran into Chuck E Cheese as fast as he could and plopped himself on the Bob the Builder ride. We're pretty sure he was more excited about the rides at CEC than he was a Legoland. Maybe we should have saved $120 bucks and headed there in San Diego instead!

August 5

Today I started prepping the back bedroom for its new paint job. The walls are quite dinged up so there was a great deal of spackling to get done. We've lived in this house for a bit over 5 years now - its about time this room got whipped into shape!

August 4

Today Will and I went to Bigelow park for some fun. He insisted on wearing his fireman helmet, which rested in his had while he enjoyed the swing.

August 3

I recently got some Thomas the Train bubble bath. We've never had any true bubble bath before and Will certainly enjoyed covering himself in the fluffy white bubbles.

August 2

After a long, hot week I decided that we needed a trip to DQ for dipped cones. When we told Will we were going to get a treat and he could hardly contain himself! This was his first ice cream cone and he thought it was positively fantastic!

August 1

Marc was out of town for the weekend, so Will and I headed to Seattle to hang with the family. Will loved seeing his aunts, uncles and grandparents. Grandpa took some time to teach Will about hydroplanes on the eve of the Seafair race. Will was excited for "hydroplane day."

July 31

Will and I went to play with the Lee ladies. Will and Hannah had the best time splashing in the pool and laughing up a storm. It was fun to watch them actually playing with one another for the first time. Tom cooked us a great salmon dinner to top off the evening.

July 30

This afternoon I went to Capital Medical Center to have my blood drawn to see if I have a Protein S deficiency. They had to take 7 vials of blood...yuck!
