March 27

This morning Marc watered his beloved grass seed and I noticed the sun shining on through the water droplets on our grape hyacinth. It was a gorgeous day!

March 26

I have been watching our lilacs grow over the last week or so and tonight I noticed that they are beginning to turn the slightest bit pink. It won't be long until they bloom!

March 25

It is our month to bring birthday treats for the staff at school, so I made cookies tonight. Will was very excited to enjoy a yummy dessert!

March 24

At times Will shows no interest in sounding out words or reading, but sometimes he does. Tonight he wanted me to point to every word we were reading and kept wondering "what letter starts with," which is his way of asking about the letters that are in a particular word. At one point we went into his room and he wanted to know how to spell "in love." Why this word, you ask? Easy. He was looking at his "Princess and the Frog" book, in which Tiana and Naveen fall in love.

March 23

Marc went to play tennis with Rod tonight, so Will and I met Sophie and Sarah at the mall. The kids had fun at the play area before we headed to Red Robin for dinner. Sarah and I commented that going to dinner with a toddler and preschooler wasn't like dining together at all. We hardly had a second to say two words to each other since our time was spent entertaining the kiddos.

March 22

Thanks to the reminder postcard we received today, I filled in our Census forms. Marc and I realized that this is the first time we've been listed together on a Census form, as well as Will's first time being "counted."

March 21

Marc is trying to rid our grass of the moss - not an easy task when we've neglected it for the last four years. He's removed two yard waste bins and no less than 10 extra bags of moss from the lawn. Yes, we've got a lot of bare dirt right now. Hopefully his hard work will pay off with a nice new lawn!

March 20

What a gorgeous day! With the temperature at a nice 70 degrees, we played in the yard, walked to the bakery for an afternoon snack, and spent time at the Roosevelt playground. I even broke out my crocs and capris.

March 19

We spent quite a bit of time in the backyard tonight since it was so warm outside. Our magnolia is now in full bloom and it looks beautiful!

March 18

I was fiddling around with my camera tonight, trying to get a shot of the light hitting Will's eye. I wasn't successful in the picture that I initially set out to capture, but I fell in love with this one the moment I saw it in the display. I had my aperture wide open and I am pretty sure that Will moved, but it was not enough to ruin the focus on his eyes. In fact, I love this picture because his eye is in focus, but the rest of his face is not. I love those lashes!

March 17

Lenny the Leprechaun visited our house last night and Will was quite excited with all of his mischief! He left a trail of shamrock glitter and candies, took out all of the green toys, and even colored the toilet water green!

March 16

Tonight we enjoyed a "Pirate" play put on by the 4th graders at school. Will was a bit apprehensive when we first walked in the door, since so many people knew who he was and wanted to talk to him. It's hard being popular!

March 15

Will enjoyed playing in the hose and I, of course, followed him around with my camera. I love that the days are getting longer, as I have a lot more time to take pictures. Will makes this face all the time while he's talking, but I don't think I've ever captured it before. I just love it!

March 14

More photos with the forsythia today. Will indulged my request for him to smell the flowers for a split second, hence the closed eyes and branch across his forehead. You can see, however, that he took his task of smelling very, very seriously!

March 13

Will wanted to play the moment he woke up. Usually he needs to ease into his day, but not this morning! We spent plenty of time together today while Marc worked on thatching and reseeding the lawn.

March 12

I had a few moments to spare today, so I tried to photograph the forsythia blooming on the side of our house. I couldn't get a good angle on the flowers and there's too much noise in this photo since I had to have my ISO up pretty high. Oh well...at least daylight savings starts tomorrow so I shouldn't have a lighting problem for too much longer!

March 11

Will turned to Marc at dinner tonight, seemingly offering him some of the hummus on his finger. Instead, he swiped it across Marc's cheek. Yes, I know we shouldn't have laughed, but it was terribly funny. After swiping hummus across his own face, my two guys traded hummus kisses.

March 10

Get a new furnace already! Our furnace is on the fritz - the timing is off so it only fires correctly about 40% of the time. Marc discovered that if we blow on the element, keeping it warmer longer, the gas will ignite. So, this is how we start our days around here right now.

March 9

Will and I stopped at the book store tonight to pick up a copy of The Tale of Desperaux. This is the first time we've read tried reading a chapter book and I think it was a bit too complex for our first try. Maybe something a bit simpler like "Frog and Toad" might be better.

March 8

Will and I spent a little bit of time out in the yard this afternoon. It is so difficult to get pictures when the swing is moving, so this is a bit blurry, but since Will has the sweetest smile on his face, I love it anyway!

March 7

This morning we went up to Grandma Dianne's for a visit with Henry, Jay and Jen. We took the boys to Chuck E Cheese, where Will was delighted to find a Teletubbies ride. We all had a yummy, if not relaxing, lunch at Red Robin. It was a fun morning!

March 6

What a difference a year makes! Last year Will wouldn't go anywhere near the water at the fountain. Today, we were walking from the lake over to the playground and the minute he saw the fountain, Will decided he wanted to try it out. He and Marc had a great time dodging the streams of water and only got sprinkled with drops a few times. Hopefully he'll be as excited about it once summer is here!

March 5

Will let me take some pictures of him outside tonight. The secret to this sweet smile? You guessed it - "Blaze!"

March 4

Will decided he needed some chapstick tonight. He had to apply every flavor, but really settled in with the tube of cherry lip balm. After rubbing it 'round and 'round his face, he exclaimed, "I'm like the Joker!"

March 3

This week Will and I have enjoyed making dinner together. Tonight's menu consisted of leftovers, even though I knew Will wouldn't touch them. Consequently, he got to help make one of his favorite meals in the whole world - peanut butter and jam.

March 2

I picked up a new Curious George book for Will this morning. He asked Marc to read it to him the minute he walked in the door tonight. Will's really been into Marc lately, wanting to play with him and have him read all the bedtime books. They are too cute together!

March 1

Will "helped" Marc water the grass seed this evening. Will's favorite part? Squirting at me through the window. I love how this picture looks squiggle thanks to the water streaming down the window pane.

February 28

Thankfully, Monkey George has dethroned Tinkerbell at our house for the last week. Will loves taking his two little "Georgie" stuffies and playing with them. Marc is, of course, the "Yellow Man in the Hat" and he was forced to have George help him drive today.
